Dental Lasers
Laser Enhanced Dentistry is among the most cutting-edge technologies currently available to dentists. While lasers have been around since the 1990s, it is only in the last five years that laser technology has advanced to the point of replacing mechanical instruments. The benefits of laser dentistry typically include:
- Less Pain
- Less Bleeding
- Greater Comfort
- Fewer Complications
- Faster Recovery Periods
- Non Surgical Gum Therapy
- Gummy Smile Repair
- Laser Gum Reshaping
- 1 Visit Tooth Whitening
- Same Day Canker Sore and Fever Blister Treatment
Currently it is estimated that only 5-7% of dentists nationwide are using laser technology. This is primarily due to the technical knowledge and experience required to employ laser technology.
Dr. Botbol has been involved with laser dentistry since 2005. He is also an active member and contributor to the Academy of Laser Dentistry. After a comprehensive evaluation of your teeth, gums, and mouth, a dental treatment plan will be custom designed to meet your needs.
Laser Gum Reshaping and Tooth Recontouring Your smile is a combination of the shape and postion of your teeth and their relationship with your gum tissue. An asymmetrical or gummy smile can be easily corrected with gum reshaping through the use of a dental laser. Compared to the old method of using a scalpel, the laser simply reshapes and seals the extra gum tissue with no cutting, bleeding or stitches. There is also reduced risk of infection through laser gum contouring as the laser kills germs while sealing the gums. The results are healthy, natural looking gums and a rejuvenated new smile.
Gum Contouring takes a few minutes with minimal discomfort or bleeding. Small teeth can look larger and can become more in proportion with the rest of your smile's apppearance. Large teeth can be made less obtrusive while ridges and small overlaps can be completely eliminated. Most people can return to normal activities immediately. There are certain situations where gum reshaping can be used in conjunction with other dental procedures such as porcelain veneers or crowns to achieve the desired smile.
